Trail etiquette, emergency packing and do not forget to have this done!

I have made some lists of things to do and not to do out on the trails. Also what to bring on every trail ride and things to remember before you hit the trails. We want everyone to be safe out on the trails and for our best friends to be safe too. So if you have any ideas on any of these things send them on it. That would be great!
 Happy Trails!

Emergency kit for Horses

emergency phone numbers                Bute
scissors                                               cold pack
hoof pick                                            small knife

Trail Etiquette

  • Don't pass a group or any other horses at high speed
  • Don't be loud and obnoxious on the trail, people usually want to enjoy the tranquilly
  • Don't trash Mother Nature.
  • If your horse is a kicker, where a red ribbon on its tail.
  • Take care of your horse after the ride.
  • Leave gates as you found them
  • Respect other people's property
  • Be a good samiartain.
  • Ask permission to bring your dog with, some horses are afraid or really don't like dogs.
  • Stay on the path and off private property.
  • Clean up after yourself and your horse.

Trail Tips
  • Always keep your cell phone on your person, not on the horse. If by chance you get bounced off and your horse leaves you will have your phone to call for help. (thanks Joan for this tip)
  • On your horses bridle and halter keep a metal dog tag with your name (or your vet),  cell phone number and the horses name on it. Just in case you get seperated. (thanks Joan for this tip)
  • On the inside of your riding helmet  keep your personal information in case of emergency. (thanks Joan for this tip)
  •

On a final note for this page please remember to bring your coggins and if you have out of state paperwork with you. If you have a cell phone remember that for emergencies along with your vet's phone number as well as other important numbers too. If you have kids with you be sure they have there helmets on and if you will wear one that is great too! It is the little things that we forget when we get out on the trails that are sometimes most important. Be a defensive rider (just like when you are driving your car) watch for the inexpedienced and the spooked horses, for dangers ahead and silly little things like bunnies or a branch breaking. Your horse might be fine with it but not someone elses.

If you have anything you would like to add to this page like favorite trails or clubs let me know. I will be happy to get them on here. This page will continue to grow. Please check back often. Also if you have sign our guest book and take a peek at our forum.

Be safe and happy trails to you!
